Ask for an estimate

Before any planned surgery or admission, you can ask the billing counter for a written estimate. It won’t be exact — how long someone stays depends on how they recover — but it tells you the range before you commit.

What the final bill contains

• Room and nursing charges, by day
• Doctor and consultation charges
• Operation theatre, if used
• Medicines and consumables, itemised
• Tests and scans, itemised
• Any deposit already paid, deducted

You may buy prescribed medicines from any pharmacy and have tests done at any lab you choose — this is part of the Charter of Patients’ Rights.
